How did factories change the nature of labor itself?

  Factory systems changed how work was done.  Factories were more centralized and more people worked in a concentrated area.  Employers were separated from their workers in the factories.  Machinery made work less strenuous and skilled workers were less in demand.  This made life difficult craftsmen and artisans.  However, the factory system was very beneficial to the everyday person as it provided a multitude of new jobs and new specialization of labor as new products were created.
